SPRINGFIELD - Chief Judge James E. Shadid announced that Thomas P. Schanzle-Haskins has been selected as a United States Magistrate Judge for the Central District of Illinois.  The appointment fills the vacancy created by the resignation notice of United States Magistrate Judge Byron G. Cudmore, effective February 7, 2014.  The selection is made by the United States District Judges from the Central District of Illinois, after receiving, and considering, a report from the Merit Selection Panel.
 
Mr. Schanzle-Haskins currently serves as a Partner and Member of the Management Committee at Brown, Hay & Stephens, LLP.  He has served in that capacity since October 2003.
 
Mr. Schanzle-Haskins attended college at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and law school at Southern Illinois University School of Law, also in Carbondale.
